AAQEP seeks volunteers to serve on its Events Committee. Applications for 2020 are due Monday, June 1, for appointments that commence July 1.
Term of Service
Appointments to the Events Committee will be for a term of 3 years, from July 1, 2020, through June 30, 2023.
Time Commitment & Responsibilities
The primary role of this committee is helping staff to design and solicit content for the AAQEP Quality Assurance Symposium, which usually takes place in late February. The workload is heaviest in late summer, when the committee performs peer review of session proposals, but is also spread throughout the year. The typical work cycle will look like this:
- Mar-Apr – Develop call for proposals, timeline for coming year (email, 1 call)
- May-Jul – Determine evaluation instrument/process to be used for proposal review; welcome new members; take online AAQEP training if needed (email, 1 call)
- Aug-Oct – Review and select proposals (1-2 calls plus reading/reviewing on your own)
- Ongoing – Advise on key issues such as scheduling, invited speakers, etc. (occasional calls and emails, no more than 1 meeting per month)
The committee may also be asked to advise the association on developing additional events.
Meetings & Travel
All meetings of the Events Committee will be held virtually, via conference call or Zoom video meeting. All work will be completed electronically. No travel is required, although committee members are encouraged to attend the symposium in February (where they can assist with hosting responsibilities and be recognized publicly).
The most important criterion for appointment to the Events Committee is experience with planning or participating in events similar to the Quality Assurance Symposium. AAQEP membership is not required, but preference will be given to applicants from member providers.
