Making the Case for Quality I: Candidate/Completer Performance

Dig into the AAQEP standards on candidate/completer performance (Standards 1 and 2) in this 3-hour virtual workshop.

We’ll start with a brief overview of the AAQEP system, then explore the types of evidence needed to document the performance of candidates and program completers. You and your colleagues (teams encouraged!) will consider the data you currently have available, discuss strategies for gathering new information from your graduates and their employers, and begin winnowing the options down to a manageable set of measures.

Discover how to frame your Accreditation Proposal and get a jump start on your self-study report, with the benefit of peer feedback. You’ll leave with an action plan!

This workshop is designed for providers actively pursuing AAQEP accreditation but is open to anyone interested in learning more about the system.

Making the Case for Quality II:
Program Practices

Dig into the AAQEP standards on quality program practices (Standards 3 and 4) in this 3-hour virtual workshop.

After a brief overview of the AAQEP system, we’ll explore practical strategies for documenting specific program practices that promote candidate success, support completer career entry and growth, and ensure program capacity for quality.

Learn how to develop case studies linked to the standards that interrogate existing program processes and inform success at a practical level. (This will be especially helpful if you’re working on the process-focused appendices to your AAQEP Quality Assurance Report.) Leave with an action plan for making the case for Standards 3 and 4.

This workshop is designed for providers actively pursuing AAQEP accreditation but is open to anyone interested in learning more about the system.

Ensuring Data Quality and Equity I:
Developing Meaningful Measures

To effectively support quality assurance and program improvement, evidence must be fair, credible, and meaningful. How can you ensure that measures produce accurate and useful evidence?

In this interactive workshop, you will work in teams—from your own institution and/or other programs—to analyze assessment instruments for equity, validity, and reliability. You’ll also develop a plan for working with the school-based partners who host your candidates and hire your completers to simultaneously strengthen your evidence set for accreditation and achieve greater clarity of your joint goals and partnerships.

Note: The “Ensuring Data Quality and Equity” workshop was formerly known as “Learning From Data.” This workshop is tailored to AAQEP members but explores concepts that are useful to anyone working with assessment in educator preparation.

Ensuring Data Quality and Equity II:
Implementing a Trustworthy Evidence System

Empirical evidence is the best guide we have in seeking to strengthen and improve programs. But not all measures are of equal quality, and sometimes measures yield discrepant outcomes that undermine our efforts to promote equity.

In this interactive workshop, you will work in teams—from your own institution and/or other programs—to explore ways of ensuring the strength of qualitative data and of investigating the fairness and trustworthiness of both quantitative and qualitative evidence sources in your accreditation work.
