AAQEP is committed to providing professional learning experiences for all of its volunteers. Currently, AAQEP’s training consists of a series of four online modules designed to guide volunteers in understanding the system and in performing their specific role.
Module 1 introduces AAQEP’s approach to accreditation, including an in-depth look at AAQEP’s four standards and an overview of peer reviewers’ responsibilities and approach to evidence. The module is organized into eight separate sessions and is designed to inform all AAQEP volunteers regardless of their particular roles.
In Module 2, volunteers learn about virtual facilitation, as this type of communication is key to many aspects of reviewers’ work. Only prospective quality assurance reviewers must complete Module 2.
Module 3 explores the quality assurance review process in detail. Only prospective quality assurance reviewers must complete Module 3.
Module 4 provides details particular to Quality Review Team leads. Only prospective team leads must complete Module 4.
Currently, AAQEP’s inaugural reviewers consist of volunteers who have also had the experience of serving on one of AAQEP’s working groups. Thanks to their extensive work developing AAQEP’s policies, procedures, and processes, they already have an in-depth understanding of the AAQEP philosophy and much of the training content. This familiarity is key as we move forward with early adopter site visits this spring.
Of course, as AAQEP continues to grow—with over 40 site visits already planned in the next 3 years—this pool of reviewers must also expand. We plan to open applications for new volunteers this fall.
