Teacher Performance Assessments: Can They Do the Job?
Teacher performance assessments (TPAs) provide direct evidence about a candidate’s readiness for taking on instructional responsibility as teacher of record. They also offer an opportunity to develop shared professional definitions across stakeholders about what quality teaching performance looks like. Accomplishing these goals requires confidence in the assessments’ validity, reliability, and fairness.
Hear from AAQEP members about their efforts to maintain TPA data quality, ensure reliable use, support candidates’ understanding of the assessment, and use data to inform continuous improvements to both the program and the measure.
