In-Person Seminars

Seminar participants around a table

Looking for an engaging professional learning experience to advance your work in accreditation and program improvement? Try an in-person AAQEP seminar!

These 2-day interactive events are available either as regional seminars, hosted on campuses around the country, or at the national AAQEP Institute in September. See the calendar at right for availability.

Framing an Accreditation Self-Study

Learn to select, curate, and ensure the quality of measures used in a self-study so that you can move forward with confidence.
Note: This seminar incorporates the content from AAQEP’s Making the Case for Quality and Ensuring Data Quality and Equity online workshops.

During this two-day seminar, you will learn to:

  • Select and curate the best evidence set to document your program’s quality
  • Document program processes that ensure quality and stakeholder engagement
  • Increase input from graduates and their employers
  • Attend to data quality characteristics—fairness, trustworthiness, validity, and reliability—for both qualitative and quantitative measures
  • Examine the data you collect to make sure it can inform sound decisions
  • Cultivate shared professional judgment of candidates' performance with your school-based partners and other stakeholders

Data Visualization and Storytelling

Stories help make sense of the world around us. Learn to bring your program's data to life through a quality assurance narrative using data storytelling and visuals that build understanding among your stakeholders to support improvement and evaluation.

During this two-day seminar, you will learn about:

  • The processes, components, and benefits of good data storytelling
  • Visual display options for different kinds of data
  • Creating your own data storyboard
  • Matching narrative to your visual data to connect the dots for readers
  • Using data storytelling with visuals for accreditation reporting and continuous improvement

Quality Improvement

Designed for individuals looking to build or improve their quality assurance processes, this seminar brings an improvement science lens to the use of data and to leading and building a culture of change through continuous improvement. Leave with fresh strategies for engaging your program and stakeholders effectively.

During this two-day seminar, you will learn about:

  • Features of a good quality assurance system
  • The core concepts of improvement science
  • The importance of focusing on the right data
  • Building and leading a culture of continuous improvement
  • Understanding the change process
  • Connecting your continuous improvement work with your quality assurance system

Mapping Your Quality Assurance Process

Learn to use process mapping, a visual representation of workflow, to help you identify issues and areas of improvement in your assessment system. Process maps facilitate team brainstorming, decision-making, and project planning, while also providing documentation that translates into action plans, new-hire onboarding, and plans for program improvement and innovation.

During this two-day seminar, you will:

  • Identify the components of your assessment system
  • Learn how to map simple and complex components of your assessment system
  • Create process maps to explain your assessment system to stakeholders
  • Identify gaps or inefficiencies in your current processes
  • Identify where and how stakeholders can engage in data quality review

Emerging Leaders

Offered only at the AAQEP Institute

This seminar supports the professional development of faculty and staff who are new to their leadership role in accreditation. Learn alongside peers who “do accreditation” as you develop skills for organizing and leading your program's quality assurance work.

During this two-day seminar, you will learn about:

  • Common practices, processes, concepts, and vocabulary for quality assurance
  • A conceptual framework for approaching program evaluation and accreditation
  • Where to begin, and how to prioritize and lead the work
